Review of Pony 62-336 16 -Pound Sledge Hammer With 36-Inch Hickory Handle

I wanted a heavy sledge to break up about 10-12 tons of concrete after it had been moved into one large pile. This did just the trick and gave me a supplement for my daily workouts at the same time.We were able to break it up in a timely fashion, even with wire netting inside of half the concrete.I recommend a sledge saver (the rubber piece that protects the handle), as we broke the handle within 2 days of using the sledge, but that was not a downfall of the sledge, but ourselves.I would definitely recommend this to anyone as you can easily swap the handle to make it a small sledge (which is what I did after completing the concrete task).Good luck finding a better deal locally as the heaviest I could find around here was an 8 lbs and that was roughly $35.You simply cannot beat this deal, especially if you have Prime, which is the main reason I chose this sledge over others.

I've been using these for occasional use around the house for 3-4 years now, and they still work well.

Very powerful clamp when you need it, but not appropriate for delicate work- It'll damage light woods (e.g. balsa).

I have made around 40 picture frames so for, using this product. Every one came out perfect, if you glue you frame then clam it with the 4 corner framing clamp there is no need for v-nails but I use them anyway just for the extra support. This clamp is strong and sturdy, I would recommend it to any who builds picture frames or if you just need a 4 corner framing clamp for other projects. So what are you waiting for get your self a couple of these, oh and btw you can't beat the price + shipping, that's nice.....

Review of Pony ISD 2.25 Inch Hand Clamp

I have used Pony clamps of different types for years and have always been pleased with their products. These clamps are an exception. They have absolutely no gripping power. A complete waste of money. I should have bought more 2" spring clamps at less than half of the price.

They do what they do and they do it well.Don't hesitate if you have a use for them.I mounted these on my portable workbench to have a pipe clamping station out in the garage. You can also mount them directly to saw horses.I'd also recommend the Jorgensen 50 Pony 3/4-Inch Pipe Clamp Fixture to go with the saddles. For me, these eliminated the need to buy something like the Workmate for the garage.

Review of Adjustable Clamp 7456 Pony Pipe and Bar Clamp Pads

I've been using these with my Pony Pipe Clamps for over ten years now. My originals are still working great and have never cracked, hardened or otherwise deteriorated like so many plastic parts do. Hopefully this newest set will perform as well. I recently expanded my pipe clamp collection and wouldn't be without these pads. It saves a lot of time not having to maneuver makeshift blocks between the clamp and the work piece. I've tried a few of the imported clamps and keep coming back to these old standards.

Review of Adjustable Clamp 24545 Pony Light-Duty Bench Vise with Swivel Base

I bought this bench vise for a christmas present and found out that the jaws are not like a regualrmachinist vise, they are relatively smooth They work good for wood because they don't leave teeth marks, but don't grip metal as tightly as standard jaws would. Other than the previously mentioned item, it is a good sturdy vise.

Review of Pony 65-172 12 -Pound Sledge Hammer With 36-Inch Fiberglass Handle

I do not know what sledge hammers are traditionally used for... extremely large nails? Or just breaking stuff? This brief review is based on it's merits as a shovel glove tool. It hits all the marks, looks cool, a giant hammer, and really made the ups guy angry when delivering. The rubber grip on the bottom is great for 'churning butter' and 'shoveling' although for the 'chopping wood' movement, there is this tiny hole in the handle whose rubber is a little ragged (I'm probably overly sensitive to it, I just slide my hand up or down a bit... this is the supporting hand, not the hand near the heavy bit). Also, I did have to alter my butter churning a bit, 36 inch handle + apartment roof = danger. It is heavy, I don't know how many times I read recommendations to "start small" and laughed... I mean 12 pounds? Come on.

As it turns out, something on the internet was true, and 12 pounds is a bit heavy. I'm about 5' 9" 180 pounds and sit at a computer about 14 hours a day. Initially I could only do reps of 20 per side 'chopping wood'. I still think it's worth it, as this is supposed to be exercise, just start slowly and make sure to check your posture. Also, this thing will wreck a computer chair if you are trying to watch the office and getting lazy about correct placement. All in all I'd recommend this hammer. I've found a few auxiliary uses for mine as well, breaking ice in a cooler? 'churn butter' (pre drink insertion obviously) 2 or 3 times and you're golden.

Review of Denali 30-Piece Bar Clamp Assortment

This set is an incredible deal, but be sure you can live with a flaw. The casting on the fixed heads, where it comes in contact with whatever you're clamping on to, is slightly rounded and quite lumpy. The thin plastic cap covering it (hiding it?) will do little to help prevent the head from making an indentation on your work. It's especially bad on the 6" and 12" clamps. My very similar Bessey clamps have a perfectly smooth head surface and aren't covered with a plastic cap.

The package is very heavy, clamps are extremely well wrapped/packaged inside, but then shipped in a cheap box. The clamps were all very dirty, like they were made in a filthy factory. Clean them well before use.

Now the good news. I compared these to my Bessey clamps and found that the Denalis are very similar in construction. Thickness and width of the bars is the same as Bessey, size and perceived strength of the heads *looks* as strong as the Besseys (who knows). The movable head screw is heavier than Bessey, and the wooden handles are the same size as Bessey or larger.

The bottom line for me is that it's like a 30 piece set of Besseys at a small fraction of the price, but now I have to figure out what to do with those workpiece-damaging heads.

Review of Pony Frame Clamp

I make many picture frames, usually of exotic hardwoods, usually using a biscuit joiner, so I'm always looking for something that will make the gluing process easier. I'm very meticulous about measuring and cutting, so I *should* be able to get joints that butt correctly without gaps. But as others who do this kind of work know, even with perfect cuts, getting the joint set up to glue correctly isn't easy. Invariably, you think you've got it clamped up juuuuust right, then come back after the glue's set up to find gaping chasms between the pieces. This jig promises to make the process foolproof, but I found it doesn't work very well, especially if you anticipate using it for a long time.
The process: Put the jig on a table (or the floor), set the retaining corner pieces in the slots that allow you to place your picture frame in it; in other words, if you have a large frame, the corner pieces go into slots farther out on the four aluminum braces. (Note: The image above shows the corner pieces backwards.) Then you tighten a wingnut in the center to pull the braces inward. You cannot adjust the angles in each corner; they're all exactly 45 degrees. That should work, though sometimes, even if you've cut the wood properly, it'd be nice to be able to shim in a corner or two ever so slightly.
The fatal flaws in this device: One, one small wingnut tightens the whole thing, so it takes some effort to get the thing really tight. Two, it doesn't have any mechanism to flatten the wood vertically, so you must use clamps to make sure they don't ride up (even with biscuits, I find that happens occasionally). Three, the corner pieces are plastic, and apparently cheap plastic -- after tightening the jig too much, I broke one, making the entire jig useless.
I think this thing could be a very useful device, but it needs a better tightening mechanism and sturdier components.

The plastic wears off and then the metal edges show through. Then the plastic comes off and gets lost. The springs are barely passable when new.Not the Pony.
